TLC for your Lingerie.

One of the most prized possessions of a woman is her lingerie. In order to keep those delicate fabrics looking pretty and maximizing the wearable life of your lingerie.

Here are some simple guidelines to keep your lingerie fresh, clean and happy. J

WASHING

1. For the real lingerie lover: Hand wash!

Step 1: Fill sink with cold water and mild detergent.

Step 2: Gently rub your lingerie using your hands and soak for 2 minutes.

Step 3: Gently squeeze suds through items and rinse with more cold water.

Did you know?
  • Hot washing could shrink your satin lingerie by 10-20% in size.
  • Regular “harmless-looking” detergent contains harsh chemicals which destroy your lingerie.
  • Wringing out your lingerie ruins its shape and leaves unsightly stubborn creases.

2. For the busy woman: Bag it!
If you have a thousand things on your to-do list, you could rely on your washing machine to do the job.

Step 1: Ensure that the hooks and eyes are clasped properly to avoid tangling, snagging or damaging of the material.

Step 2: Place them in a lingerie laundry bag and zip it!

Step 3: Set to “delicate” wash mode on machine.

DRYING

Rule of the thumb: ALWAYS line dry. NEVER use machine dryer.

Keep your lingerie away from sunlight to avoid fading.

Did you know?
Even heat from the lowest setting of your dryer will break down the elasticity of your lingerie, shortening the lifespan considerably.

STORING
After drying, allow it to rest a day in your drawer, before wearing it again. It will use that time to reform to its original shape, volume and texture.

Always store your intimate apparel in a drawer.

Never hang them in your closet as the weight of the garment itself will cause the fabric to lose its elasticity.

Most lingerie material is supposed to stretch, to contour to your body shape in some way. By hanging, that material is being constantly pre-stretched and may not bring out the best in you.

Gentle Reminders:
Wash colors separately.
Do not bleach lingerie.
Read the label. If it says “Dry Clean Only”, there is a reason.
